Walker Woodworking Staff Introduction

Walker Woodworking has been building custom cabinets since 1999. Founder and CEO Travis Walker begin his venture as a hobby that latter turned into big dreams and those big dreams into what Walker Woodworking is today.

As an introduction to our blog page I wanted to give some background about each of our staff members. With our combined experience we want to provide you with useful information from professionals you can trust.

I will start with myself; my name is Stacey Walker and yes my husband is Travis. Before joining Travis here at Walker Woodworking my first job out of college was working as a registered nurse. I did this for a few years before I decided that my husbands' business was more than he could manage on his own, so like any good wife would do, I took over. Specifically, in 2006 I took over managing the books and helping him answer the phones and assist customers. My specialty is not with cabinet design or building so I do not claim to be any type of expert with either of these. So what do I do? I continue to handle most of the accounting, I do all of our photography, direct questions and phone calls to the appropriate people, and write information given to me by the experts so that we can share this information with you!

Travis Walker; Owner

Travis Walker has been creating one of kind pieces since 1996. Travis began his business venture with an idea of creating unique, handcrafted, American made furniture and cabinets for his clients.  He started woodworking as a hobby and borrowed a few thousand dollars from his grandmother to buy tools, hoping to turn his leisure pursuit into a small side business.

He couldn’t have dreamed from his humble beginnings that his company would grow to have completed the 400+ kitchens we’ve now been a part of.  From starting in a garage by himself, Travis’ business has grown to be housed in a 10,000 square foot shop having 20 full time employees including installers, shop employees, administrative staff, and an in house Kitchen and Bath Designer. After a tremendous demand in 1999, he incorporated the business in 2000.

Having learned many lessons through the years with experience and the growing demand for unique custom cabinets and furniture, he has found his niche to combine his talents with art, design and carpentry. Although his time is mostly spent managing many aspects of the business, his vast experience with designing and building cabinets is priceless.

Jeneane has been designing Kitchen and Bath Cabinets for Walker Woodworking since she graduated from Western Carolina University in 2008. She gained her foundation for cabinet design by earning her Bachelors degree in Interior Design at WCU. Shortly after entering the workforce she worked toward and achieved an added level of certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer through the NKBA. The rest of her 'on the job training' she gained from Travis Walker. He worked side by side with Jeneane showing her how custom cabinets are different from manufactured cabinets, giving her time to do 'hands on' work in our shop as well as spending time with our install crew during installations. Her combined experience with the many aspects of cabinetry has made her an expert at crafting custom kitchen and bath designs. Today Jeneane works with customers, designers and builders to bring their vision to life. Creating the final product with the customer's style and functionality in mind  is her priority.

Brandon Fitzmorris, Production Manager

The final component in completing a job is making sure that from design to install, everything fits and all of the small details are handled and this is where Brandon becomes involved. Brandon, originally a native of New Orleans LA, found his way to Shelby through Gardner-Webb University in 1999. After completing studies there he began working with a local custom home builder from 2001 to 2005. In the summer of 2005 Travis hired Brandon to be a 'catch all' shop employee. After mastering the many skills needed including Shop Foreman, Brandon then went on to become our Install Manager. Having had many different experiences with home building, carpentry, cabinet installation and management made him an ideal candidate for Production Manager. You may be wondering what exactly a Production Manager does. Brandon is the one behind the scenes making sure that measurements are correct, he coordinates our design plans with, builders, plumbers and electricians so that there are no surprises at install. Most importantly Brandon provides the cut list and details for the cabinets to be built  in our shop to the final installation.

Walker Woodworking is a proud member of the NKBA and BBB as well as having many professional ties to other local businesses.  For more information visit our website.
